Video game addiction is officially termed as Internet gaming disorder. The definition of video game addiction offered in the manual is: “persistent and recurrent use of the Internet to engage in games, often with other players, leading to clinically significant impairment or distress as indicated by five (or more) (criteria) in 12 months.”.
